“Lion Square Lodge is a Rocky Mountain Retreat.”
Cool refreshing mountain air, clear blue skies, lush green mountains and temperatures between 65-85 degrees with no humidity! Mix in outdoor activities, plenty of shopping, amazing dining, cultural activities and resort treats and you’ve got the perfect formula for a spectacular summer retreat – Vail, Colorado. A refreshing and “cool” mountain resort.
A summer and winter wonderland at the base of the Vail Mountain is the unique mountain resort town of Vail. All the village roads are vehicle free. Getting around is easy from our condo at Lion Square Lodge. We can walk along the scenic relaxing river path, roam through the shopping areas connecting Lionshead Village to Vail Village or hop aboard the complimentary shuttle. As we stroll the broad walkways of the village we find collectibles, specialty shops, assorted clothing stores, and fabulous mountain art galleries. Such a variety of shops from upscale boutiques to fancy tee shirt shops and of course plenty of ski stores with some great summer sales and savings. Whimsical shops have outdoor displays of art and creative wind chimes and mobiles.
A bounty of dining options and flavors are available in this mountain retreat. Pizza parlors, fine dining restaurants, cozy pubs, ethnic eateries and romantic restaurants offering indoor or outdoor seating are around each corner. Seeking seafood and a birthday celebration, we select Montauk Seafood Grill for a special dinner. In the center of Lionshead Village the Montauk prepares coastal specialties with a contemporary flair. As the evening temperatures drop to the mid 60’s we are glad we opted to dine inside. After our scrumptious seafood dinners we have choices for after dinner of Haagen Dazs Ice Cream, The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, several pubs and bars. We opt for after dinner drinks at Mezzaluna’s Restaurant at the Lions Square Lodge with views of the mountain along with their elegant pool and private hot tub. On another evening we have dinner at Pepi’s Restaurant featuring an international cuisine and enjoy the Hungarian and German fare.
Our two bedroom condo unit at Lion Square Lodge North is excellent offering mountain sophistication decor and design. The rich, comfy spacious living room has an L-shaped bright red sofa and a gas-burning fireplace creates a relaxing yet elegant setting. With an exquisite attention to detail are a fully equipped state-of-the-art kitchen and dining area. Our private patio is bordered with blooming flowers with a wonderful view of Vail Mountain. Ah, space to spread out is always welcome. Complimentary daily housekeeping and all the services, comforts and delights of a first class hotel are all added touches to the luxury accommodations.
Cloudy skies greet us on our second day limiting outdoor activities. A huge tent sale is going on so grabbing an umbrella it is a good time to check out more sales. On sunnier days Vail offers plenty of outdoor activities from hiking, biking, fishing, golfing and much more. It even has some of the best hiking trails in Colorado. Hikes can be an hour or day long hikes with picnic lunches on the mountain while appreciating fabulous views of the Rocky Mountains. A gondola ride to the top of Vail Mountain offers panoramic views and hikes, plus we don’t have to leave the village. On a prior visit we had a great hike to Shrine Mountain Pass, just outside of Vail. It is a fabulous hike through fields and up a trial to the top of a mountain with unique “shrine” rock formations and fields of mountain flowers. Be sure to take a picnic lunch for this full day hike. For more outdoor activity try the Vail Pass Bike Trail with 12 miles of coasting through beautiful mountain terrain starting at over 10,000 feet. Shuttle services and bike rentals are readily available in the area.
Plan a week getaway to this enchanting summer mountain resort to partake in the numerous activities or just chill out.
