Located on 13 lush wooded acres this premier AAA Four-Diamond hotel offers all the amenities of a world-class resort. Enjoy a wide variety of on-site indoor and outdoor activities, hit the links on the 18-hole championship golf course, play tennis, relax by the pool, indulge in a rejuvenating spa treatment, work out in a comprehensive fitness center or leisurely stroll the nearby trails. Choose to do a lot or a little. It’s all found at the Inverness Hotel and only 20 minutes from downtown Denver.
Located in an office park the Inverness Hotel is south of Denver off I-25. With its deep tan brick exterior the hotel blends in beautifully in a wooded setting. Large trees and flowering shrubs along the entrance and circular drive give a warm welcome. Entering the hotel, we definitely appreciate the rich brick and wood decor, large open lobby, a skylight hallway and massive windows offering terrific views of the golf course. The staff is consistently gracious and hospitable.
Quickly, we settle into our spacious 5th floor one bedroom suite. The living room is comfortable with a large L-shaped couch and cozy chair, cocktail table and HD TV. One wall is a combination window-skylight with great views of the area. Plus there’s a desk for planning our activities. Two steps up is the luxurious bedroom with a pillow-top mattress and supple plush linens. A large patio is a great place to relax while enjoying the scenery. With all the amenities and its rich decor the suite is warm and provides plenty of room to spread out. Extra pluses are the complimentary breakfast and evening reception for Club Level guests.
Refreshed we head to Baca’s, the Inverness Hotel’s fine dining restaurant. Baca’s features a contemporary Colorado cuisine with a Spanish flair. Named after one of the state’s most influential families, Baca’s menu features a tempting array of regional favorites conceived by their award-winning chefs. It is a wonderful dining experience as Rudolfo, our waiter, is extremely attentive. Our dinners of pesto grouper and cedar blanked grouper are delicious and beautifully presented. We readily recommend dinner at Baca to anyone staying at the resort or in the local area seeking a special dining experience. Baca offers a delicious blend of Colorado’s past and present.
The Inverness Golf Club is adjacent to the hotel so it’s a short walk to the Pro Shop to check in for golf. After warming up on the driving range, the excellent chipping area and putting green, we hit the links starting on the 10th hole. A well maintained course with beautifully manicured greens, the course is a parkland style with gentle rolling fairways and a layout over water, marshes and creeks. Playing the course is both exciting and fun with its tight, sloping fairways, rolling hills and the fast, undulating greens. Water is a factor on 11 of the 18 holes. Our golf skills are continually challenged as we approach each hole and decide a strategy for playing it.
The Signature Hole, the 13th hole, is a par-4 with a lake directly in front requiring a 150 yard drive to stay dry from the Blue or White Tees. A hazard runs the entire length of the hole on the left side and out of bounds makes it tight on the right side. Luckily for ladies the water is not in play on the drive and I am happy with my par. My golf game is on track as we play the back nine. Pars on both par-3’s and a few par 4’s, we arrive at No. 16, the number 2 handicap for ladies. From the red tees it’s a 429 yard hole with a slightly uphill fairway. Despite a second shot off to the rough near some trees, I execute a fantastic third shot to the green. Hurrah, I get my birdie! Richard is in the zone on the front nine of this fun course.
The par-3’s holes are a good test of our skills. It is a fantastic golf experience with a great pace of play. We easily understand why the Inverness Golf club has received national acclaim and it consistently delights guests and its loyal members. It’s even open 362 days a year.
After golf, we have time to roam the hotel and facilities. The fitness center is impressive featuring cardiovascular equipment, strength training machines and free weights. An elegant indoor pool is inviting for winter days while the large outdoor pool invites guests for a cool plunge or relaxation. After sampling the decadent “salt scrub” in the rest rooms that leaves our hands smooth, we stop by the spa to purchase a jar of the wonderful scrub. As we stroll through the hotel we see the various restaurants and lounges providing a variety of choices of dining options. This is truly an excellent resort that is a place for fun, relaxation and rejuvenation.
For the evening we are headed to Denver for dinner and to see Les Miserable at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The concierge assists us with the schedule of the RTD (Regional Transportation District) Light Rail to downtown Denver. Less than a mile from the Resort it makes visiting downtown Denver simple.
The Inverness Resort and Conference Center offers guests fun, relaxation and great outdoor and indoor activities. A perfect escape and more!
